The Sisters of the Congregation of the Immaculate Conception are the pioneers of women education in the Temple city since the inception of the Congregation in 1899. The mission of the Congregation has been to provide quality education to girls and women hailing from the backward districts of South Tamilnadu. The vision of the Sisters was to strive for empowerment of women through gender-parity, education, vocational training, spiritual and personality development and entrepreneurship.
The Congregation provides education to girls at different levels and with that rich experience in administration, the Congregation felt the need for well-qualified and trained teachers to impart quality education. The dream of the Congregation culminated in the establishment of a College of Education in the Nirmala Girls' School Complex.

The College Emblem portrays a lamp stand in the India map lit by a lady. The map symbolically conveys the service rendered to the country. The lit lamp signifies the dispelling of dark ignorance among the masses. The hand that sets light to the lamp connotes the women student teachers who are molded to serve the country. The glowing light metaphorically stands for God, as student teachers are trained to serve with moral and spiritual vitality. |
